Terms & Conditions

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions:

  • "Lestari Hikmah", "we", "us" or "our" refers to Lestari Hikmah, registered in Malaysia, with premises at 218 Jalan Maarof, 59000 Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
  • "Programme" refers to any of our educational offerings: The Quiet Reading Hour, Reading Personal Finance Documents Plainly, and the Whole-Picture Retirement Engagement.
  • "Participant" or "you" refers to any individual who enquires about, registers for, or attends a Programme.
  • "Session" refers to a single scheduled meeting within a Programme.
  • "Agreement" refers to the contract formed between you and Lestari Hikmah upon enrolment confirmation.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By enquiring about or enrolling in a Programme, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions. Enrolment constitutes acceptance of this Agreement.

Our Programmes are intended for adults aged 18 and above. By enrolling, you confirm that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into this Agreement under Malaysian law.


3. Programme Description

Lestari Hikmah provides adult financial education programmes conducted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Our Programmes are educational in nature and do not constitute licensed financial advisory services, investment advice, or any form of financial product recommendation.

Programmes are offered at our Bangsar premises, with remote sessions available for the Retirement Engagement programme by prior arrangement. We reserve the right to modify session formats with reasonable notice.


4. Enrolment

Enrolment is confirmed upon receipt of full programme payment. Places are allocated on a first-come basis. For the Quiet Reading Hour and Document Literacy course, group sizes are capped as advertised.

For the Retirement Engagement programme, a pre-programme consultation is conducted before enrolment to determine suitability. Lestari Hikmah reserves the right to decline enrolment if the programme is assessed as unsuitable for the applicant's situation.


5. Participant Responsibilities

As a participant, you agree to:

  • Attend sessions punctually and with reasonable preparation where reading materials have been distributed in advance
  • Engage with other participants respectfully and in a manner consistent with a quiet, considered learning environment
  • Keep confidential any personal financial information shared by other participants during group sessions
  • Not record sessions (audio or video) without written consent from Lestari Hikmah and all participants present
  • Not use programme materials for commercial purposes or distribute them to third parties

6. Intellectual Property

All reading materials, session summaries, written documents, and programme content produced by Lestari Hikmah remain the intellectual property of Lestari Hikmah. Participants are granted a personal, non-transferable licence to use these materials for their own educational purposes only.

Materials may not be reproduced, distributed, or published in any form without prior written permission from Lestari Hikmah.


7. Payment Terms

All programme fees are stated in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). Payment is due in full prior to the commencement of the programme. Accepted payment methods are communicated at the time of enrolment confirmation.

7.1 Refund Policy

  • Quiet Reading Hour (RM 660): Full refund if withdrawal is requested at least 7 calendar days before the first session. No refund thereafter.
  • Reading Personal Finance Documents Plainly (RM 1,580): Full refund if withdrawal is requested at least 7 calendar days before the first session. No refund thereafter.
  • Whole-Picture Retirement Engagement (RM 2,810): A partial refund policy is communicated individually at the time of enrolment. Generally, a pro-rated refund based on sessions not yet completed is available for withdrawal with at least 14 days' notice before the next scheduled session.

Refunds are processed within 14 working days of the approved withdrawal request.


8. Missed Sessions

For group programmes, missed sessions are not individually rescheduled. Written session summaries will be shared with all participants, including those who were absent. No fee reduction is applicable for missed sessions unless the session was cancelled by Lestari Hikmah.

For the Retirement Engagement programme, missed sessions may be rescheduled subject to mentor availability and at least 48 hours' prior notice.


9. Disclaimers

Lestari Hikmah provides educational programmes only. Nothing communicated during our Programmes, in our materials, or in any correspondence constitutes financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, legal advice, or any form of regulated financial service.

Participants are encouraged to consult appropriately licensed professionals before making financial decisions. Lestari Hikmah accepts no responsibility for decisions made by participants based on content discussed in our Programmes.

We do not represent that any particular financial outcome will follow from participation in our Programmes.


10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law, Lestari Hikmah's liability arising from or in connection with any Programme is limited to the programme fee paid by the participant. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental loss.

Lestari Hikmah shall not be liable for failure to perform its obligations where such failure results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to illness, natural events, or government-mandated restrictions.


11. Confidentiality

Personal financial information shared by participants during sessions is treated as confidential. Facilitators and mentors at Lestari Hikmah do not disclose participant information to third parties. Participants are also expected to observe the same confidentiality with respect to information shared by other participants.


12. Termination

Lestari Hikmah reserves the right to remove a participant from a Programme without refund if the participant's conduct is disruptive, disrespectful, or inconsistent with the quiet, collaborative nature of the learning environment. Such decisions will be communicated in writing.

A participant may withdraw from a Programme at any time, subject to the refund terms in Section 7.


13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms shall first be referred to informal resolution by written communication to [email protected]. If not resolved within 30 days, disputes may be referred to the courts of Malaysia, with Kuala Lumpur as the agreed jurisdiction.


14. General Provisions

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with any enrolment confirmation, constitute the entire agreement between the parties.
  • Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
  • Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of future enforcement rights.
  • Assignment: Participants may not transfer their enrolment to another person without written consent from Lestari Hikmah.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised terms will be posted on our website with an updated effective date. For participants enrolled in ongoing programmes, material changes will be communicated by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
