How Lestari Hikmah programmes work
Reading Together
Every session is anchored in a text — a reading, a document, or a structured summary. Participants read together rather than receiving information passively.
Considered Discussion
Questions that arise from the reading are discussed in the group or between participant and mentor. No question is too basic. Understanding, not pace, drives the session.
Written Consolidation
Each session produces something written — a participant's own reflective notes, or a facilitator's session summary — that serves as a record of what was understood.
Programme 1 · 4 Weeks · RM 660
The Quiet Reading Hour
A four-week introductory programme structured as four guided reading hours rather than lectures. Each session takes one short reading on personal finance for those over forty, walks through it together in a small group, and ends with a brief reflective writing exercise. Useful for those who learn best through quiet reading and considered conversation. Group size capped at ten.
What you will cover
- Reading 1: Understanding where you stand — a personal finance orientation for the over-forties
- Reading 2: What EPF statements actually tell you — and what they do not
- Reading 3: Insurance and risk — reading your policy schedules clearly
- Reading 4: The shape of retirement — a considered introduction
How it runs
- 01Enrolment and pre-session reading distributed
- 02Four weekly sessions of ninety minutes each
- 03Written summary shared after each session
- 04Group feedback form at close

Reading Personal Finance Documents Plainly
A seven-week course on reading and interpreting the everyday paperwork of personal finance in Malaysia — bank statements, EPF statements, fund factsheets, insurance policy schedules, unit trust statements and tax slips. Each week takes one document type and walks through the items that often go unread. Useful for those who would like to feel quietly competent in front of their own paperwork.
Documents covered
- Week 1: Bank statements — charges, transactions, what to check
- Week 2: EPF annual statements — accounts, projections, withdrawal conditions
- Week 3: Unit trust and fund factsheets — fees, risk ratings, holdings
- Week 4: Insurance policy schedules — coverage, exclusions, premium structure
- Week 5: Amanah Saham statements and related paperwork
- Week 6: LHDN tax slips — EA forms, tax assessments, what they mean
- Week 7: Putting it together — reading your financial picture as a whole
